ENERCON Technology
As the first manufacturer of wind turbines, we used a gearless drive concept that is a characteristic of all ENERCON wind turbines. Our products are known for their innovative technology, outstanding reliability and excellent returns on investment, worldwide. We are also at the forefront in other areas, such as rotor blade design, control technology, grid connection technology, and, with our wide range of technological new developments, we prove our innovative strength time and again.
Founded in Germany in 1984, the first Turbine was commissioned in Ireland in 1998, in Crockahenny Wind Farm in County Donegal. This wind farm consisted of 10 x E40 WECs with an installed capacity of 5MW of power. Since then, almost 700 ENERCON wind turbines have been installed across the island of Ireland with an installed capacity of 1.4GW.
To celebrate ENERCON coming to Ireland the company recently commemorated its 25th Anniversary. Customers, partners, ENERCON colleagues and the media were invited to mark the milestone at ENERCON’s newly built headquarters Killerisk, Tralee. Sean Kelly, MEP was present to officially cut the ribbon to mark the opening.
The new Headquarters consists of a purpose built (1,900 m²) office, training centre, warehouse and service station, where it expects to continue to expand and grow. In addition to these facilities, ENERCON also have an Irish office in Santry, Co. Dublin and 15 other service stations in key locations across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
